It is my goal to gather here the favorite five Fantasy books (either a series or a stand alone) of all the posters visiting this board. To keep it succinct no further explanation is required, you just need to fill in the five best (though if you want to elaborate on the series strength that's fine with me).The list is not limited to this year or last.
I've checked the archives and have found that there was a similar thread in the past (top six I believe), but it's no longer available since the boards are "cleaned" all the time. I hope the "older" posters will put in their two cents as well http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
My own Fantasy top five, collected from the limited Fantasy reading that I have done, is as follows:
1. Merlin trilogy by M. Stewart
2. Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien
3a.A Song of Ice and Fire by GRR Martin
3b.Farseer trilogy by R. Hobb
4. Malazan book of the Fallen by S. Erikson
5. Riddle-Master trilogy by Mc Killip.
Cheers!

1.The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
2.Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson
3.A Crown of Stars by Kate Elliott
4.Exiles trilogy by Melanie Rawn
5.The Bone Dolls Twin by Lynn Flewelling
The top three are easy for me to list but after that its really hard http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif.

Oh boy, I love these!!! Only problem is that I have such a hard time narrowing down my list. Anyhow, here goes. I have some ties, but the rankings are self explanatory.
One for the Morning Glory by John Barnes
One of Cleopatra's Nights by Theophile Gautier
At Swim-Two-Birds by Flann O'Brien
The Two Towers by J. R. R. Tolkien
The Book of Three by Lloyd Alexander
Three Hearts and Three Lions by Poul Anderson
The Three Imposters by Arthur Machen
Book of the Three Dragons by Kenneth Morris
King's Blood Four by Sheri S. Tepper
Fourth Mansions by R. A. Lafferty
The Quantity Theory of Insanity: Together With Five Supporting Propositions by Will Self
Five Children and It by E. Nesbit
And I couldn't decide where on my list this one goes, but I know it belongs in here somewhere.
The Marriages Between Zones Three, Four, and Five by Doris Lessing
Just let me know if anybody's interested in my Six through Ten... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Definitly a lot of names I've never heard of Behemoth. Though I think we've already had your six through ten http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
I'll check some of those books out, they have quite the ringing titles.

Oh no, my little bit of cleverness went unnoticed - each of my titles includes a number from One through Five. I was trying to inject new life into a hoary old question but perhaps I was being a little too obtuse.
Mithfânion, I hope you don't mind my attempted subversion of your topic. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif
