I've got a couple that I really like.
1. Drizzt Du'Urbin
2. Pug
3. Colby Thorson
4. Waylander

Agree with Waylander. Also Renato Biagio from John Marco's series. Try 'The Unknown Warrior' from Chronicles of The Raven. Finally, Sam Vimes from Pratchett's Discworld.
There's a range for you.

I agree with NOM's vote for Biagio.
A few of others
Caine from HEROES DIE/BLADE OF TYSHALLE
Flagg from many of Stephen King's novels
Lyra from HIS DARK MATERIALS
Biniabik from MEMORY, SORROW AND THORN

Can't fault the choice of Waylander The Slayer. I'd also add Druss The Legend, Jon Shannow another Gemmell character, he really nails HEROES. Then in no order:
Tyrion Lannister from ASOIAF,
Pug/Milamber from Magician,
Silk from The Belgariad,
Croaker from The Black Company,
The Grey Mouser from Lankhmar,
Saltheart Foamfollower from The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant,
Travis Wilder from The Last Rune,
Brother Cadrach from Memory Sorrow and Thorn,
Fitz from The Farseer Trilogy,
