Been trying to find a book.......

I've been looking for this book now for ages (literally years) all I remember is....there was a group of peacekeepers on the way back to their planet from a mission, one of the groups ship broke down so he had to repair it. The rest went back to the homeworld, once it was fixed he carried on but when he got back the entire planet was destroyed with all of his race. And he goes on a vengence rampage to find out who dunit. Oh and he's got a load of special skills to help him. Any ideas anyone?

Hmmm, sounds very like the Keill Randor - The Last Legionary series has cropped up again. Can't remember the name of the first book but I know there is an entry in wikipedia for the series.
