I have noticed on every occasion that I have come to the discussion board, that the UBB code must do something strange with cachin or cookies, because it never seems to have the updated replies, etc. on discussions. While the main topics page will have a list of topics, and their most recent reply times, there will be no reply as recent as the time listed on the topics page. In addition, when submitting a reply, I always check to make sure that the reply got posted, I'm compulsive like that; but the reply is never there. It takes a few hours or days before I actually see my reply.
I have cleared my history, cache, etc. I have even tried going to the site with a different brand browser, bu the problem persists. Does anyone else have this problem? In closing, I am a professional programmer, with special expertise in dynamic website development. I can look at the UBB code and try to fix the problem if you wish.
Thank you for your time, sir or ma'am.

I notice that sometimes too. I know I've posted at say 10 AM, I go and check back at noon and it doesn't show.
If I click the refresh button it will usually rectify the situation, though.

Even refresh does not help. I suspect though, that this problem is more likely caused by a server delay between posting and display. Possibly caused by using multiple, mirrored servers. Am I right on this, admins?
Thanks alot.

If you find that your browser isn't pulling the updated page from the server, try using CTRL and Refresh (or F5) together. This will make the browser pull the page from the host server rather than from your own cache or your ISP's cache, which is usually the problem! (Especially if you connect through a proxy server.)
Hope this helps?

I have never had those kind of problems. My replies always show up the minute I hit the 'submit reply' button. Therefore, my guess is that the UBB code is OK and the problem resides somewhere in your browser or with your ISP.
But of course, I could be wrong...

Nicba, I've been thinking on this for a while and I'm fairly certain that you're half right. But the problem still resides in the code. What is happening is that it has a cache line in it that tells the browser to cache the website. I will go to the UBB developer's website and check out the code for myself. If there is anything that can be changed, I'll let ya know.
BTW, a combo of cache dump and history wipe seems to give good results, but it has to be done every time u have a change on the site, so not very practical.
Thanks for all the help, guys.

CTRL/Refresh really is the answer, at least in my experience! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

This is definitely something caused by firewalls/proxy-servers and/or your local browsers cache, and as Erebus says the easy solution if it's the browser is just hitting CTRL/Refresh.
The UBB code itself does actually have a no-cache line that is there to prevent this from happening.
