I was looking at book covers, and I stumbled upon this. A Swedish cover for Tad Williams Dragonbone Chair I believe. It's the same as the cover for Robin Hobbs Royal Assassin. Does anybody else think this is kind of weird?

Wow! Great catch.

Odd, because it's not even a great cover to begin with. The Assassin covers always annoyed me because Fitz has dark hair in the novel, but in the artwork he's "blonde".

That's insane. I wonder if it was legitimately arranged or just lifted?

I'm trying to remember -- was there a wolf in Dragonbone Chair?

I think Binnabik (sp?) rode a wolf as his mount.

Not strictly cover-swiping, but Mel Odom's Rover novels liberally lift from the Hildebrandt's Tolkien calendars for their covers.

Oh that's right, so where is he? :)

I hope whichever cover/edition came first, that the artist got paid for the second one.

I think the cover art for Wizard's First Rule was also used as the cover art for a German release of a book by Lawrence Watt-Evans. Don't quote me on that.

I've seen things like this a few times. I think Tad Williams Otherland cover was used by somebody else too.

I think its probably just a coincidence. There are a lot of books in the world now.
