I recently watched S. Darko and liked how the story focused more on time travel and the sci-fi aspect. Anyone else see it?

I'd like to give it a chance since I enjoyed Donnie Darko so much, but I've heard nothing but bad things so far....

Honestly, don't waste your time with this movie.

I love Donnie Darko, and thought that, even though this wasn't even done by the same writer/director, it could still possibly have some shred of goodness.

I was wrong.

The dialogue and scenarios are all re-hashed blips from the first movie. The plot is identical, but is executed horribly. It's about an hour too long, and the ending is awful.

I sat there watching, the whole time, hoping that the end would bring it together and make the movie. It really didn't.

Hugely disappointing. It tries too hard.

Don't bother watching it. Seriously.

It is a hollow cash-grab by producers who must have never understood what Kelly was going for, but they now control the rights to the Darko universe, and they're hoping to collect any profit from this wannabe Donnie Darko replica.

I'm not sure about that. I'm pretty sure that I read the guy that directed the film was a big fan Donnie and purchased the rights to the film to make his own take on it. Also, every movie made and released has the intention of making money so I guess that statement is somewhat valid.

Anway, the movie is not terrible, but not very good either. It was an interesting take on the story. One viewing was enough for me.

I did watch the first Donnie Darko and I thought it was rather sad, watching that poor teenage boy loosing it...
