Anybody read this astonishing book by Danielewski? Is this the future of horror?

Hi,
I borrowed this book from a friend and started reading it. It was interesting to say the least. Although I only got half through it, I found that it was difficult to read as you read the story, referred to the footnotes which then spanned a number or pages, which I found confused the story but made it more enjoyable however. It added to the books atmosphere.

yes, i have read this book
although i did enjoy the book (although it did get confusing at some points.. and i didnt go through all the odd pages at the end of hte book), i hope horror is not heading this way as i prefer the styles of P. Straub or S. King

I read this and enjoyed it quite a bit. I would not like to see many others books head in this direction b/c it was the fact that it was so distinctly different that I enjoyed it.
