I got through 75 pages of this book and never picked it up again. Tell me, is it something I should continue? Also, I hear good things about Ann Rice in general, but I didn't know what to begin with. Shall I try "Interview With The Vampire?" Suggestions, anyone?

MagicK-I had the same responst to Servant, it was utter crap, to say the least.
That said the first few books or her Vampire Chronicles are good.

Ane Rice has written some fantastic books, er... she has also written some utter cr*p as well.
Her Vampire Chronicles are fantastic, with the exception of Memnoch: The Devil, but you have to read it to understand the following books.
Also a good book by her is The Witching Hour, and the following 'Mayfair Witches' books... but her absolute best book IMHO is Rameses, called The Mummy in some countries (and nothing to do with the movie), check the 'Horror Greats' thread for more.
Majick, I do urge you not to give up on Rice yet, but throw away that 'Servant' book, a tree died for nothing with that one http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif
If you want the titles, just ask and I will post them.

I read "Servant of the Bones" a few years back, from what I can remember it was just ok, I got through to the end but it wasn't really impressing or memorable, and considering it was the famed Ann Rice I was a little dissapointed, and so it was the first and last of her books I read so far, but if you say she has much better ones, maybe she is worth another try.
BTW,I did love Interview with the Vampire (the movie), and she did write the script, so...

Don't judge Rice by Servant of the Bones, only. I would suggest a good one to start with is The Mummy, Ramses the Dead. That was very good. If you liked Interview with a Vampire on the big screen, try the book. However, definitely move into the second book of that series, The Vampire Lestat, as that one, and the next, The Queen of the Damned, are the best in the series. After that, they start to fall short of her high quality. If you venture into her Mayfair Witches series, make sure to stick with it. The first book, The Witching Hour, takes a little while to get into, but it is worth it. I really enjoyed that series.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't even get to page 75 of Servant. I guess it's a candidate for the used bookstore.
I loved Interview and Vampire Lestat. Mummy is my Ann Rice favorite. The rest bored me.
