What movie do you guys *or girls* think has given tribute to one of his book's the best? In that, I mean follows with the story, or the characters were meant to be played by that person, etc. I would have to pick The Green Mile, IMO.

Maximum Overdrive
Of course, he wrote the screenplay and directed...

I think King is way past his prime, but if he'll be remembered for anything it'll be for THE SHINING. And the Stanley Kubrick film itself is a classic, one of his best movies.

The Kubrick film was indeed a classic in its own right, but probably one of the least true to the book... which was worlds better IMO

Nathan, you can't be serious about Maximum Overdrive. Even King says it sucks.
The film that best captured one of his books well its tough, but a couple:
Stand By Me
The Green Mile
The Stand
Needful Things

Quality wasn't an issue... although I thoroughly enjoyed Maximun Overdrive as a kid... but I look back on alot of eighties films lately and think... I thought that was great??
But so many of his books have made it to film, and I find that I enjoy the ones to the books I havn't read yet... nope, havn't read all of King's works, not by a long shot, he's not my favorite writer...
But yeah, as far as great movies based on his books... Satnd by Me was excellent... and I liked Pet Cemetary (I actually read the book afterward) and I liked the sequel with Eddie Furlong... imagine that...

I recently watched Hearts in Atlantis. I really enjoyed the book and it was a treat to see Ted come alive. I know this isn't horror, but it has the elements that I like best about King's writing. He tells a great people story.

Christine has always been one of my favorite King novels. I feel the movie did more justice to the novel than most of his adaptations.
Don't get me wrong, I love all King movies and books, but most of them tend to deviate a bit from thier original novel form.
I'm personally waiting for a movie adaptation of the Gunslinger books, and Eye of the Dragon would make a great movie too!

The Cat's Eye stories were good, and a lot of the short stories that King wrote (was it the Creepshow series or another?) I found more enjoyable that the huge epics that were often cut in two for TV audiences.
The Green Mile always struck me as more modern fantasy than horror, and even Misery I think fell more into the "thriller" bracket.
I saw a DVD recently called the Night Flyer, a modern vampire story which I quite liked the idea of, although I can't comment on the book (if there was one ),
