New comer asks for your help.
Greeting! I have to inform you that I’m not native English so please apologize for my humble skill.
I love book and my favorite type of novel is fantasy. I don’t have problem with reading English so don’t worry I can read it without translation. I don’t like it when authors keep write about action scene such as blah blah slash blah blah jump blah blah cast a spell boom boom. I also don’t like it when writer write about every detail about the scene, I mean, I love to learn about that mountain history, tale or something like that but don’t about how green it is or something like that.
I love drama or romantic so the hybrid is cool for me. The pure one is good too.
I don’t mind if it has something “philosophy”. I am studying philosophy as my major now so I don’t mind to read it.
I like Lord of the rings as you all do and I love Wizard of Earthsea. I even enjoy Alice in wonder world but I don’t like His dark material style.
So do you have a book to recommend me?
Thank you.

Hi penwin
First, Welcome to SFFWorld we hope you find good books and good people here!
Second though we get at least one of these What Can I Read Next threads a day, and very often, we get two and three of them a day though we haven’t had any in a while. If people would just take some time and effort to look around a bit, they’d find one of these threads.
We find that such posts usually get the same response. Again, one of the annoyances for some is that the question and the responses have been done before, ad infinitum. Actually looking at what's already on the Web site will usually answer most people's requests. Perhaps it is uncommon, but we like people to have a look around rather than just demand (even if it's polite!) immediate gratification for their own personal needs.
With such a large and complex site it can be difficult to see everything going on, admittedly. But if people think that there's answers out there they will point people in the general direction. Perhaps not all the answers you need are there, but they probably are. If they're not, then that's probably because we don't know enough about you to help you more fully. This is why the best answers work best when people have got to know you. And that's usually best served by letting people get to know you.
In order for us to help you, perhaps provide a few more specific books you like, since it is often easier to recommend a book based on what a person enjoys. Lord of the Rings, Earthsea and even Alice in Wonderland are pretty much standards in the genre. See this thread in particular: If you like ^^^^^ then you might like ##### (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=285)

I think SFFWorld needs to restate its policy on contributors linking to their websites every five minutes. Yet again.

If you think the link is inappropriate for the initial query, I'd be pleased to hear about how and why. Are those who maintain web sites to be simply forbidden to reference them even if the reference seems germane? I'd hope not. So tell me why you think it is not germane.

The board rules forbids people from linking to their websites to answer queries as it takes the discussion off the board and onto other locations. If you want to answer someone's question, than you answer it, you don't send them off somewhere else.

That is self-contradictory. It's OK to link to any site except one's own? Why does a link to, say, The Scriptorium pass muster, but to Great SF&F not? As I said, if you think the linked page is substantially inappropriate as a reply to the question, tell me why and how. And note that to reproduce its contents here would produce a spectacularly mammoth post (as would, typically, reproducing any web page linked to by anyone anywhere). I am not going to place myself in the invidious position of having to praise my site to defend citing it in a reply; you could, as Casey Stengel once famously put it, look it up.

I'm not a mod and I'm not responsible for the rules on the site. If the rules have changed and we can now post links to our sites without getting jumped on for it as has happened in the past, then great. But it has to apply to everyone equally and consistently.
Can we get a mod ruling on the situation?

The main contention is that a lot of people were coming and posting ONLY to link to their own site and/or linking to their own Web site. Every. Single. Time. They Posted. SFFWorld is NOT a free advertisement forum.
