[Hobbit]

At least according to news released earlier today here in the UK.

Mickey Zucker Reichert is to write new tales on the life of Asimov's Susan Calvin, mother of robotics. (Details HERE (http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/oct/29/fantasy-author-new-isaac-asimov-novels).)

Not sure how I feel about this at the moment. I do like MZR's writing.

Not sure whether we should be using Asimov's old characters though. (I realise it has been done before, some of whom I liked - Foundation's Friends, anyone?)

Difficult, I think all the Susan Calvin work was short stories, and the short arcs worked perfectly for me. Personality traits can be exaggerated to a level that I think is difficult to accomplish in the longer novel form they have chosen.

But is is wait and see. However it is difficult to see how they could capture the atmosphere of the old stories.
As long as the adaptation is better than what they did to Bicentennial man there is some hope...
