Just finished reading all three of Feist's Riftwar Legacy and I was wondering if anyone knew if this was continuing. James still hasn't solved the mystery of the Crawler, has he now?

I did enjoy the third book (Tear of the Gods), but it smacked of trying to be darker than it actually came across as being.

The first two books were great, but something's really bugging me about this last book.

Let me dwell on it, as I only finished it this morning!

I've been considering picking up the first book in the series, whatever it may be. Master Magician, I think? A little frivolous summer reading can't hurt too much, after all.

Qin,

The series you're referring to is simply the Riftwar Saga, the first book of which, btw, is Magician: Apprentice. Solaar is talking about the Riftwar Legacy which is a trilogy that Feist just finished.

Me, I'm way behind in the series. I haven't even read The Serpentwar Saga yet...

Yeah, Qin, the first two books Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master were originally published as one volume.

The most recent (US) paperbacks have been split into the above.

While a bit derivative, they were entertaining, readable and enjoyable with likeable characters. In other words good, fun, light summer reading.

C'mon people, they're as light and fluffy as Robert Jordan or Eddings. Aren't most fantasy? I'm not saying they're bad or anything. I enjoyed reading them. But I think Feist is up there with the other authors people think are serious fantasy

Feist is much lighter reading than Jordan and are more fun than serious.

Feist is great. "Krondor" is great.

Feist is good, i think the rifterwar legacy lacks something though

Fiest is generally fairly good but Riftwar Legacy (Or Krondor or whatever it is called) is crap, pure and simple. Fiest stuff is light reading for sure, but as somebody pointed out, so is most fantasy and Fiest is better than lot of them. Although he is another one of whose author's whose first work was their best and whose work went downhill.
