I was just realising that I havent read any science fiction novels for about a decade now, I have decided I want to tuck in again into some new material.
Can anyone please recommend any novels or series that have been published in the last decade? Preferably about space exploration or colonisation, maybe some political intrigue. If you cant think of any of those then any highly rated novel or series.
Thankyou all who answer for your time.:D

Bujold's series started in the late 80s but the last one was 2002. I think another is due out next year.

I am really enjoying Peter F. Hamilton work lately. Lots of politics and intrigue. In particular Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained. (One long novel split over two volumes) was very enjoyable. I am reading the Reality Dysfunction now.
Here is a link to the SSFworld review of Pandora's Star: http://www.sffworld.com/brevoff/253.html

Allen Steele has had interesting space exploration novels--with political intrigue--set in both solar and extra-solar environments. Check out his bibliography (http://www.allensteele.com/biblio.htm) for titles.
Alexis Latner's Hurricane Moon

I'll second Alan Steele's Coyote.
I'd also suggest John Scalzi's Agent to the Stars and Old Man's War.
I've really liked Tobias Buckell's Xenowealth novels starting with Crystal Rain.
A new voice in science fiction with his first novel just published this year is Paolo Bacigalupi with The Windup Girl.
Jacqueline Carey has her own take on superheroes with her novel Santa Olivia.
For a slightly different palate, try The Inferior by Peadar O'Guilin.

Agent to the Stars is a free download. Just Google it. As long as you have a ebook reader, or don't mind reading at your computer.

Three other new authors from the last decade that you might like to try are Elizabeth Bear, Richard Morgan and Charles Stross.
PS. Sorry my fingers moved faster than my eyes and I didn't read the part about space exploration. However, they are good authors!

20 of the Best Science Fiction of the Decade. (http://io9.com/5423847/20-best-science-fiction-books-of-the-decade)
I highly recommend Rainbows End, Accelerando (not on the list, but Glasshouse is, and it is the sequel.. sort of). Also not on the list but Robert J. Sawyer's newest novel "WWW: Wake" was very good, and is going to apparently be a trilogy or something.
