He is discovered and mutilated by the hostile aliens. I feel like the first planet was a desert planet where the aliens had legs that bent backwards. Anyway, he survives being mutilated, and undergoes surgery to make him look like another alien race, and he does the same thing as before - trying to blend in as an alien in an alien culture. He does this multiple times, becoming less human each time finally as a blob creature. He finally can no longer communicate with his human friends and family and cuts himself off.
