Hey everyone. I have a really vague request here, but hoping someone here can be of help.

Maybe 10 years ago, I was at someone's house (I don't even remember who) and I picked up a book they had lying on their table. It was a hardback book, large format (10"x14" maybe), with a black cover. I think it was pretty thin (maybe 100 pages or so). Within it were sketches and coloured pencil drawings of various spacecraft, mostly alien iirc. Each picture had a description or story about the craft. I distinctly remember one picture was a drawing which depicted a flight hanger inside an alien spacecraft, and in the hanger was an F4 Phantom jet. The story on that page said the jet had been captured for examination while it was out on patrol in the western United States.

Annnnd...thats all the information I have. I am trying to find out what this book was called or where I can find it.

This book may have been from the 80's or even the 70's. It definitely wasn't "new"

Thanks!

I don't know if this will help or not, but that sounds like it could be a sourcebook for a role-playing game, like Dungeons & Dragns only with a science fiction setting. Could that be possible? Did the book have any statistics or other suplementary information about the ships?

There was a game like that, it was called Traveler I think. Its been a while and I only know of it as a derivitive of the D&D game genra I was playing at the time.

There are quite a few SF RPG's Traveller was just the first (and still has a strong following aomong several versions) others include Space Opera, Universe, Star Frontiers, Battle Lords of the 23rd century, various star wars and star trek games, space 1899, and others. Any of which could have a book on space ships.

I think I may have come to your rescue:

I had the Aliens in Space book and the Spacecraft 2000-2100 AD book, and they both sound a lot like what you're describing.

Looking at the price I must reclaim my copy from my brother who nicked it about 20 years ago.
