Well, read 'A Game of Universe'.

Had a good concept (assassin who absorbs the souls of his victims), had a good opener (the gambler, one of his victims, had just taken over the protagonist's body in a casino), had a good story (the search for a mcguffin) in a mixed sci-fi and fantasy story.

However, IMHO Nylund couldn't bring it over the finish line. Became a bit weird (common-place weird) for me as the ending came up, i.e. too much blended sci-fi and fantasy. I guess it was too much for Nylund.
