I'd like to see your opinion, because these two authors are going to be released next year and I was wondering who's the best of them.

Well since Runelord was pretty damn banal, I'll have to pick Modesitt as the lesser of two evils.

Very hard poll.. Since, I figure both authors have very different styles. Farland being much combat oriented (War, Battles, etc), and Modesitt, who I haven't read, seems to rely much more on dialogue and less action (Or so it seems)..
I'll find out soon enough, taking the first book of the Relcuse series when I go camping for 6 days..

Never read Modesitt, Jr. and don't have any plans to read him. Farland is a top-notch author. Elan, judging by what you've posted as your top 10 series and what you've posted in the past, I think you will like Farland's books.
I see you've visited the RL forums.

I've started reading Magic Engeneer. Couldn't get past the forts 100 pages. Too childish writing, it seemed to me (though, I'll give him another try, sometime). At least, Farland writes better.
