Odd questions, but what the heck..

If you could..

a) be / claim friendship with any fantasy character, who would it be?
b) SLAP any fantasy character for being a fool, who would it be?

Sheesh.. feel like I'm in school again..

I don't know that I would want to claim friendship with any characters from a fantasy series, b/c that would imply that I had to live in their world. I love reading about fantasitic worlds, but I'm a wimp and want my modern conveniences. Not to mention that all the cool characters are always in trouble and often drag their friends into trouble too. Too much adventure for me!

That said, I guess I would like to be friends with Mara from the Empire series. She's an intelligent, powerful woman. I like that. She is pretty ruthless though, so it might be dangerous to be her friend.

Maybe Nevyn from the Deverry series would be a better choice. He is quite intriguing.

Character I would most like to slap? Anyone from WoT. I think I'd have to reserve that honor for Faile, if I could only chose one. Actually, could I just kill her and end the misery? Maybe the slap would be better spent on Perrin, if only it would bring him to his senses.

Tolstoy's Soldier Jhillin! Now there's a man with whom I could sing a good song and share a bottle of vodka!

a) be / claim friendship with any fantasy character, who would it be?

I would claim friendship with the Queen(Cersei) in Martin's ASoIaF. Because when her brother's going somewhere, she needs someone else to have sex with. That would, of course, be me. ;)

b) SLAP any fantasy character for being a fool, who would it be?

Simon from MS&T deserves a slap because......

MINOR
SPOILER
WARNING

he runs away when he discovers that Miri isn't a virgin anymore. Instead he should be happe that she has already some experience, but no, that fool disappears in the night. How stupid can a person be.

END SPOILER

Probably more information than you're asking for

:D :D

but I would become lovers with Jiriki from MST. I'd also like to have dalliances with Gerald Tarrant from Coldfire trilogy, Mhoram from Covenant, Raistlin from Dragonlegends, Aragorn from LOTR.

and I'd like to be friends and go shopping with The Fool from Hobb. And be friends with Aditu from MST. And every single member of the Fellowship of the Ring. I would like Gandalf to be my dear uncle.

My alter egos are Pippin from LOTR, Nynaeve from WOT, and Crysania from Legends.

I would like to BE...Arwen from LOTR. That must be nice....

My slapping list is much longer.... I would have to go with almost everyone from WOT especially Faile. I LOATHE her. And I hate Miriamelle from MST, and all women from Feist's Riftwar, and Tika from Dragonlance, and that girl from Kay's Fionavar Tapestry, the beautiful one or whatever with no personality? .... notice I have a problem when I find women to be poorly written, unbelievable, and not developed characters...

I'd enjoy having Isaac Dan der Grimnebulin (from Perdido Street Station) as a friend. He's intelligent, down to earth, and would probably make for a good mate despite his flaws.

As for slapping someone for acting foolish... Well, I don't know really. Ok, I'll nominate the Weaver (also from Perdido Street Station) because it acts pretty bizarrely.

That would cut my friendship with Isaac short though, because trying to slap the Weaver would probably end up being the last mistake I ever made...

I'd like to meet Tyrion Lannnister, if only for the fact that even when facing execution, the guy still comes up with some of the best one-liners in the series.Ariane from Kay's A Song For Arbonne would also be good-Intelligent, strongwilled, woman who doesn't let the fact that she's married get in the way.
Can't think of anyone to slap right now.I'm in a non-aggresive mood :)

Of all the characters i've read I have to say that i'd want the Luggage from the Discworld as my buddy. You just can't beat genocidal luggage with legs.
And i would dearly love to slap just about every female character in WoT.:D

Yikes!

What a nasty thread! :) j/k

Well, Id' like to be friends with Leto II, God Emperor of Dune, even if that was too dangerous for my health.

And, I'd like to slap every WoT character, but not with my bare hand: with that "thing" that Agia from The Book of the New Sun slaped Severian. (now, that is nasty ;))

Well, I'm not sure who I would be friends with. Probably Lanfaer because she is so... Well.... Nevermind

And I would definately like to slap Kahlan from Goodkind. Well, how about slap them all. Grr... Except maybe Zedd. He is a good fella sometimes. But Grr...
