Planetes is a Japanese cartoon about junk collectors in space. The science is absolutely the best I've ever seen in any visual medium - they get the physics, chemistry, biology, etc. right down to the smallest detail. The show is also extremely funny and heartwarming. I'd recommend it to anyone.
