Ok, first off.. I know many folks adhore Jordan here. And if so, I understand, but, please do not flood this thread on how much you hate him. We know. :)

Though, this thread is for moi! I've been looking at the Jordan series again. I stopped reading it around Lord of Chaos as I just started getting lost, and the characters were annoying me. BUT, I did enjoy it.. Espically the world building.

Now, I am wondering. If I decide to re-read it, should I start waaaaaaaay back at book 1? Or start where I left off? I know the series would take me sometime to get through again, so, it'd be a giant work in progress.

Thanks.

Keyoke.

As much as I deride RJ, I read it too.

When Winter's Heart was released, I read the first two books again, very quickly. When Crossroads of Twilight publishes, I will re-read one or two of the books again.

I stopped at the seventh or eight book, I always figured I'd start around there if I ever want to go back to it...

I'm to sort who would normaly start at the beginning, but if you were to do that now, you would probably get bored with it and give up at about the same point you did last time...

With just one book you should be back up to date on all the characters, and familiar with most the side plots...

Life's too short to go back reading his books again,I've got far too many other unread books to get through.I read the first 7 books in a relatively short space of time so it was fresh in my mind. There are so many characters in the series (too many some would say) that after a gap of not reading a book in the series I might look at one of the websites of The wheel... to refresh my memory.

Read where you left of, that way you avoid one of the most boring parts of the serie(where Egwene and Nynaeve end up with that guy with his elephants). It took me two weeks to get over those chapters.

If u don't know what's going on anymore, just search the internet for a summary of the books.

salt on an open wound, this is. I have the same question, but I don't have time to read them all again. I flicked through most of them, but it is annoying. It started off so well. And then, possibly due to lack of threads, and plots, he had to put in all thos crappy aes sedai side-threads. It is annoying, and I forgot all about them, and don't know who half the characters are. So now I'm probably going to re-read all of it from the beginning.

Whenever a new book comes out, I tend to visit the chapter-by-chapter summarization pages at Dragonmount, rather than having to plod through 8,000 pages all over again. It's an easier way of getting back up to speed with where/what/who everyone is doing.

I'm always amazrd by the fact that even RJ's fiercest critics are still reading the series or have only stopped recently.Did it start off like a decent series, turn crap later on, but is still addictive?

I think we all want to see Al'Thor die a very long, painful dead.

AMEN to that!

And King: we're reading because we want to know how it'll all end. When you've dedicated enough time to read 5,000 + pages of one series, it almost seems ridiculous not to finish it for the hell of it.
