Go check ur browser settings. If ur browser is set to not store cookies (for security reasons) ur going to need to log in each time unless u change the option.

What browser do u use? (internet explorer, netscape navigator?)

A cookie problem would seem most likely, Holbrook, as Bunny said. If you still have problems, let us know. :)

Browser is set to store cookies.

It has happened again to day after I was looking at a short story and then came back onto the forum...

Hmmm....that's an interesting one, Holbrook. Do you have any programs that clear out your cache or cookies when you close your browser? Sometimes, they can be the culprit, otherwise, your cookies should remain until you manually delete them. Are you using IE or Netscape btw...I'm afraid I know nothing about Netscape so will be able to offer no advice there.

The only other I can think of now is that maybe your unlogged-in-page is stuck in your cache and perhaps trying CTRL and F5 or Refresh together will force a new page to load and pick up the stored cookie details.

You could also check to see if when you have closed down your browser you still have the cookie. You can look for this in either the Windows/Cookies folder or Windows/Temporary Internet Files folder on your hard drive. The cookie for here should say something like: default@www.sffworld.org where default may be replaced by your computer's own name or login name etc.

I really can't think of anything else right now.

Dag, any suggestions?

No, not really, I actually have the same problem myself, from time to time I have to log in again and I have absolutely no idea why my browser are loosing the cookies. This happens more or less every day.

I'll let you know if I figure it out though.
