Yup, none of them as Allanon said. My favourite is the Gholam from Jordan's WoT. ;)

sorry, havent come across the gholam. is it a ripoff on gollum or is it some slave of some kind? (ghulam being the arabic/hindi word for slave)

Don't think Jordan took it from Tolkien, I think it's from ghulam, because he (Jordan) know very much arabic, christian and jewish mythology.

I went for Smaug because I love his conversation with Bilbo in the Hobbit.I also like giants, though you don't see many traditional fantasy monsters nowadays(except dragons,of course).
