Yes, I am sorry to say I have. I was in a weird place when I bought that off of Amazon. I was looking for a WWIII near-future tale and my search turned up The Keepers. In all honesty, I stopped reading the book about 70% through. I don't normally do that either. There are big holes in this story, and Richard Friar's grasp of geopolitics is pretty weak. Not to give anything away, but the gist of the story is an animal-rights vegan from Germany takes over the world with some new technology because he wants the world to stop eating meat and destroying the environment. I am not kidding. This thing reads like a John Birch Society fantasy tale. I don't know Richard Friar's politics, but I would hazard a guess he is a far-right neocon. For example, Israel joins up with the new German Reich. Really? Now only someone who hated environmentalists and Jews could come up with this drivel. In his defense, he does have some, somewhat, interesting ideas on technology. I would never turn someone away from a new experience, but if you have limited time, money, or b.s. tolerance levels, I would skip this one. Just my opinion, though.
