David who?

;)

He is a fine writer, and I do have quite a few of his books... he is a 'battle master' without equal. I know of 2 Rigante books I need to get, books 3 and 4 (cannot remember the titles offhand)...

Now... he has a new book... so tell us about it

Sig options aren't activated.

Never saw anything about Gemmel that made me scream to read it. But then, I've learned to be careful with best-selling writers.

The new book, ravenheart, is ok, not his best but it does delve deeper into the moidats life, he is so cool :D

Easy there big fella' Gemmell does get mentioned here from time to time, I seem to recall a Rigante oriented thread a week or two back.

As for the new Rigante books Ravenheart was pretty decent, though, from what I can tell, it was really only the first half of the story that Stormrider concludes, so I'll probably reserve judgement somewhat until I have read Stormrider, which is sitting on my shelf and waiting to be read once I've finshed Sara Douglass' Crucible trilogy. I'm looking forward to it in any case.

I enjoyed Knights of Dark Reknown (partly because I was young at the time and into vampires, and partly because of the downer ending) but it seems like most of DG's books are identical.

I just can't face reading another story about a bunch of past-their-prime warriors who have to get together and battle evil/age one last time.

It's a long time since I've read any of DG's stuff though. Perhaps he's moved on since that phase. I think Gemmel is a decent enough writer, he just needs to take more risks.

Wasn't there some female vampire type character in Knights of Dark Renown at some point?
