I saw The Red Wolf Conspiracy on the bookshelf the other day, and it looked pretty decent. Has anyone read this? Any opinions?

I really enjoyed it. I would say it is a more adult version of Golden Compass.

I have the Red Wolf Conspiracy and The Rats and the Ruling Sea on my to read pile. The reviews are pretty good so you should probably go for it :)

Quite a bit of discussion about the novel was kicked up when it first published in the UK in 2008:
The Red Wolf Conspiracy by Robert VS Redick: the one to watch in 2008? (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18508)

I read Red Wolf Conspiracy last year and found it entertaining and well-done. Considering it takes place on a large boat it has a lot of action and political intrigue with a touch of mystery. One of my favorite books that I read last year. My review here. (http://stateofreview.blogspot.com/2010/01/red-wolf-conspiracy-by-robert-v-s_16.html#links)
Rats on the Ruling Sea (book 2) was not quite as strong as Red Wolf Conspiracy but still very good. It seemed to me to focused on setting up things to come in future installments. Still a very good novel, I was hoping for more of the same instead I have to wait until the next book to see what comes to pass.Review here. Just read it over the weekend and found it to be a lot of fun. I can see the reasons why some would compare it to Pullman, but it doesn't have the crude, beat-you-over-the-head ideological messaging of the Pullman books. Those I found quite annoying in spite (or because) of being a lifelong agnostic.

Thanks! I hated Pullman, but it sounds like I might like this one. I'll check it out.

I was disappointed with Pullman as well but, found Redick to be very good. Its a quick read and I think you will enjoy the ride.

I am reading The Red Wolf Conspiracy at the moment and liking it a lot.
Problem is the pages skip from page 214 to page 247. Then after page 262 it goes back to page 231 and goes on from there normally.
So basically I am missing page 214 to 231, went through the rest of the book and they aren't hidden somewhere :). Anyone else have this problem with the UK version? and what to do in cases like this. I ordered it a while ago so I assume I can't return it (bookdepository.com).
It's the version with this cover
