Question: Is fantasy your preferred theme for reading, or, do you prefer other themes like sci-fi, realistic, WWII, mystery, porn etc?

Also, is reading your preferred relaxation pass time, or, do you prefer video games, sports, fishing, porno etc?

Last questions, what is your favourite all time book/series and what is your favourite all time fantasy book/series?

Read on,

TL

1) Yes, Fantasy is my preferred genre, by a significant degree, but I don't read Fantasy exclusively.

2) I enjoy reading, but it is dwarfed by the time I spend on the Internet. I also love going to the cinema's, watch dvd's or go out for long walks with the dog.

3) The Silmarillion, Song of Ice and Fire, Farseer/Tawny Man trilogy, Prince of Nothing, Guy Gavriel Kay's various novels. I prefer these over any mainstream book I have read.

1) Yep, Fantasy. Followed by Sci-Fi, then gothic-y horror like Lovecraft and Poe, and then historical fiction.
2) Nope. Gaming, followed by listening to music whilst browsing "t3h intarwebz" and then reading.
3) Favourite series - The Dark Tower by King. Favourite book - The Hobbit by Tolkien.

1) Most the books I read would be classed as Fantasy . I also read a fair bit of Sci-Fi , though I quite like to read my wifes Crimefic / Mystery / Thrillers when suffering from SFF burnout (like I am now)

2) I read every day during my breaks at work and for an hour or 2 before sleep. I also like to slip in a couple of hours gaming each day . I'd say my hobby time is pretty equally split between gaming and reading.

3) Hamilton's Nights Dawn trilogy for SF and of course Song of Ice and Fire for fantasy , though notable mentions go to Malazan and Cook's Black Company books.

Standalone I think goes to The Road which I loved.

My reading over the past few years has been scientific and historic; although, before that and now my favourite book themes would be Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Vampires and Steven King-type books… that said, the book has to be written well, like the way Martin, McCormick and King write.

I would have to say that Steven King’s Salem’s Lot is up there with my favourites. I loved Lord of the Rings and Arthur C. Clarke’s Rama series too.

Reading is not my favourite pastime, but, it is very close with my others. I am addicted to video games and used to be an editor and writer for various magazines [N64 Gamer, Hyper and others]. I have all consoles, PS3, Xbox360, Wii and everything else before it. Currently playing Mass Effect 2 and just finished Demon’s Souls. Also have a $2,000 telescope [can see the gaps in Saturn’s rings, other galaxies and nebulas] which I love using. My favourite pastime is playing with my children and teaching them :)

1. Yes. After that gothic horror, history—fiction and non-fiction—paired with a bit of occult stuff.
2. At the moment, yes. Other stuff I like: Computer games (big one), music (both listening and playing), motorbikes (racing is life), ice hockey (too old to start but love watching), outdoor life, rock climbing, etc...
3. Favourite series is The Malazan Book of the Fallen closely followed (or tied with) A Song of Ice and Fire. Best book is tougher, I really can´t say. Maybe A Storm of Swords by GRRM, Toll the Hounds by Steven Erikson or Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien. Might also be A Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde or Paradise Lost by John Milton. Or one I´ve totally forgotten.

For relaxation, I read fantasy and science fiction almost exclusively. If I have a choice between a great fantasy book and a great science fiction book, I have a slight preference for science fiction.

I have other hobbies like star gazing, walking in nature, photography, video games, etc. but reading is something I do every day.

1) Fantasy, Horror and Science Fiction are my preferred genres
2) I like reading a lot but also watch a lot of dvd's and listen to music
3) Don't really have an all time favourite, it changes a lot.
So many good stuff out there :)

1) Fantasy is my preferred genre, but I like historical fiction and the occasional whodunnit.
2) Reading is, and always has been, my favourite past time, but I also like hanging out on the internet, going to the movies and writing.
3) I can't name one favourite. There are too many and it also depends on the genre.
