I have heard of this series and looked for some copies, but up until now I haven't had any luck. All my local bookstores and libraries don't carry it. But I'll find it eventually. I've heard good things about it.

I've never heard of it, but am always on the lookout for a good book. What's it about? What are the characters like? Maybe it's another book to add to my "I need it now and will never find it" list. Or, like the Patricia Brigg's books, "I need it now but don't want to pay $80 a pop for a used book."

Caly...I think you should try the book and then tell me if I would like it. *g*
Actually, although I have heard of the series, I have not read them, although I know I tried to find them once.

I have read the Bazil Broketail series there very very good books there are about eight in the series by chistopher rowley.
The main two characters are
Bazil Brokentail a leatherback wrym dragon who fights with a giant sword for the Legions.
He is a brilliant character totaly inhuman ,Chistopher Rowley does inhuman better than most, but at the same time funny. When Bazil wan'ts to help out his boy and slides up to Relkins new girl friend and tell hers not to take the strange way he is acting too seriously because he always gets like this when he wan'ts to fertilize eggs with someones.
Relken the other main character is not as interting as Bazil but still very well done. When I read the back cover of the first book back in 92. I thought to myself No!!! not another 12 year old innocent that the Author can use to push things along with his stupidity.
Then I thought well atleast he is not a pig farmer and bought it anyway. But when I read the story I found little innocent or stupid about Relken he is someone who has been there and done that and not someone to mess with.
This was a very good series and unlike some I could mention the Author finished it and moved on to his next series.
On another note I two have found that few if any of my fantasy reading friends have heard of this series. Which is a shame because to me it is so much better than Jordan or Martin that there is little room for comparission. If they have heard of Chistopher Rowley at all its from the Vorn series of the late 70s. early 80s. Which as far as I know was never published in Austsralia and impossible to find so I have never read it.

I've heard of him and picked up his series of books (barring 1 last one, almost complete too). A pretty interesting read.
The background of his world is a pretty dark place. A bunch of continents overrun by the Dark Forces with only the coastline of 1 continent and a few small islands holding out. Very depressing state and very different from other books wherein the enemy comes out to invade the kingdoms.
Primarily military fantasy, with generous doses of espionage suspense-thriller, adventure, and a dash of romance.
Oh yes, Jon, did you notice that Christopher Rowley actually invented the Aes Sedai before Robert Jordan did? ;)

I read the first one, or most of it a ways back. I have all but the last one or two books in the series. I just never meandered my way back to them yet.
Seems I remember reading a thread on this a month or two ago when I was still lurking.
My addled brainbucket seems to remember that one Kassimir Funk seemed to be Rowley's biggest fan. You might search out the thread.

The books are at Amazon -- looks like there's no shortage, new and used both. They do look good.

I read the whole series, I found them at borders. I think they are written on the same level of eddings, for anyone that wants to read a good series that is under ten books should read the Bazil Broketail series.

um, neither did. the Aes Sedai (the Aes Sidhe) are fairies in Irish myth.
