Hello
I have recently just started reading The Kings Buccaneer, I'm about 130 pages into it and its rather un-eventful, but by geezus am I enjoying it, Don't you think that is weird? Enjoying a book where virtually nothing has happened?
The characters in the book pull me in, and maybe because I always thought of a good book based on a character where we see him/her/it live his/her/it’s normal life for awhile before the big DRAMA happens and the action begins, unlike some books out there that just begin the action straight away and we don’t really see how the characters lived there live before hand. I also must admit again that a Feist book has done this to me another time, I read the whole of ‘A Rise Of A Merchant Prince’ in only 2 days, and I was very young and it was the second fantasy book I had ever read. For those who have read the book I’m sure you understand nothing WOOA actually happens. Maybe I’m soft or something, but I sure enjoy books that don’t require TONES OF ACTION to keep me entertained. Another example of this would be the excellent (AUSSIE) Author, Sara Douglass with here Crucible Series, although the action is there, 85% of it is more character development.
I’ll shut up now…
