Forgive my ignorance, but what is the Necromancer series? I thought Nicholas Flamel was the guy in the Harry Potter books that created the Philosopher's Stone.

However, if it is a book with some decent Irish mythology I may have to go out and pick up a copy of the first book and see what he has to offer.

There are 4 books to the series...Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel

Book 1 - The Alchemist
2 - The Magician
3 - The Sorceress
4 - The Necromancer

They are on my list of books to get..!

Be careful not to confuse it with the series Chronicles of a Necromancer.

This is a series based on Nicholas Flamel who is a famous French alechemist who supposedly did work on the philosopher stone.

Here's a wiki on the guy:

This seems like a cool series from what I can see. I'll see if I get the chance to get into it. Looks like a YA series though, so I don't know.

Nicholas Flamel was a real person. The "legend" is that he created the Philosopher stone and used it to become immortal.

There's a whole cult devoted to it and crazy people on the internet saying they spotted him in modern times.

Yeah Nicholas Flamel was a real historical figure who does appear in the Philosopher's Stone (Sorcerer's Stone). The author brings in all sorts of mythological characters, but throws in some Irish too, especially his take on the Warrior Scathach.

And as mentioned by others, this is the fourth installment in a six part series....be forewarned, it's YA, but it's cool enough and a quick read.

I don't mind a good YA book or series. I have a huge backlog as it is so I won't be reading or purchasing them any time soon.

Glad to see that I am not going out of my mind and that the character was in Harry Potter. Thanks for letting me know and I can cancel my appointment with the shrink.

haha no sweat. If you don't want to give the book a shot just yet, check out the accompanying game they have up, The Quest for the Codex (http://www.questforthecodex.com). It's pretty fun for a free online thing.

Yes, I finished it and liked it but Josh is getting to be a little annoying because of how completely idiotic he is.
