can anyone tell me a site/online article where i can read about the origins of the fantasy genre?
of course, i already have lots of info from browsing the boards :) but still

Well, I can't answer your question but I want to thank you for asking it, because I just spent a fantastic half hour or so searching for you, and I found *tons* of cool stuff that I'm going to check out further.
There's an Encyclopedia of Fantasy that looks to be a decent reference work -- it's at Amazon.
But this site --

promises to be extremely interesting. I hope the url is clickable. If not, I went to www.google.com and entered the search words "fantasy literature history". Probably could have left out the "history" and gotten pretty much the same stuff.

Very cool website that takes an academic look at the history of fantasy, including King Arthur, Robin Hood, The Song of Roland, Beowulf, etc.
