What book is this (telepath + first contact)

So the story of the book loosely goes:

A man from earth is discovered by some other aliens on their planet. He is jailed but eventually gives the message "stop your war or be destroyed." Or something similar. It's been awhile.

Apparently the reader comes to find out he is a telepath and is in contact with other people, people that represent a galactic group mind, and he is on a mission of forcing peace.

Details are fuzzy, but my google-fu fails me and I want to read this book again, lol.

This sounds like The Day the Earth Stood Still, but in reverse if the prisoner is human rather than alien. I don't know what that one would be.:confused:

Yeah, it is far from a classic like that one. It was a short book (200 pages or so), and somewhat new. 90s I'd say.
