Don't know if anyone has heard of her, but back in the early 80's, she wrote a book called "God Stalk". I loved that book, but I was very young when I read it, so maybe I wouldn't like it as much now since my tastes have changed. Has anyone else heard of her?
BTW, it's recently been reissued by Meisha publishing.

Yep...in fact I read her 'Dark of the Gods' (containing God Stalk, a short story and a sequel to God Stalk in one volume) last January. There were some good moments, but it was somewhat lacking imo. Not a bad read, but not great. *s*

I mentioned her just the other day (in the sequels thread).
God Stalk
Dark of the Moon came out in the 80's also.
Seekers Mask came out just a few years ago.
It looks like another book will be published this summer.

I've read good things about her books, so I managed to find the first two (God Stalk and Dark of the Moon) in paperback after searching for a while. Haven't had a chance to read them yet, though.

God Stalk is very good.
It looks like the new book is actually a reprint and consists of prequel short stories.?

Thought I'd bump this thread since she's just released a new book called "To Ride a Rathorn". However, since it's being published by Meisha Merlin, it is having a limited HC run. They are all sold out of their initial print and had to go back and print a second run. Amazon just shipped my copy after pushing back the delivery date by a month.

I loved "God Stalk" when it came out in the mid-80's, and when I re-read it a few years back, it was just as good. The only problem with this series is how slowly it has been written, but now that the author has retired from her teaching post, it should go a lot quicker. Meisha published the first two books in an omnibus edition called "Dark of the Gods". The follow-up is "Seekers Mask". There's a also a short story collection called "Blood and Ivory".

I'm bumping again. She's now with Baen since Meisha Merlin went out of business. Baen is re-releasing her first four novels I think in omnibus format, and she has a new book on the way in early 2009. Also, since she's retired from teaching, she'll be able to write more regularly.
This is such a classic of the genre, it's a pity it isn't more well known.

Thanks for the heads-up. I always keep an eye out for her latest. I don't have to look too often though.

I've heard about Blood and Ivory, I think, but haven't read her. Now that she's with Baen, she'll get a wider distribution. What is God Stalk about?

Blood and Ivory is a short story collection involving many of the same characters from God Stalk. The omnibus edition will contain the first two books in the series, God Stalk and Dark of the Moon, and will be entitled the GodStalker Chroncles.
As for what God Stalk and the sequels are about, I'm probably going to defer on that question and find out if the author is willing to answer herself.
