Let's try this out and see if it works. I'll start by naming two authors who may or may not have any similarities and someone else will name a third author who "bridges the gap" - that is, is as close to a combination or meeting ground as possible. Then that person will name two authors and the it will continue...
Make sense?
Here we go, and by way of example:
Steven Erikson
Guy Gavriel Kay
Who bridges the gap? Which author would be the third that would "complete the triangle?" Obviously Erikson and Kay are very different authors, so if you could find one author (or several) that would be situated by their style, stories, characterization etc., somewhere between the two, who would it be? More than one person can respond, and we could get numerous "triangles" going.
Have at it...
