Howdy I have been talking to a few people in my local reading group and a pattern is begining to show . I would like everybody's input.
1. People who realy enjoy the Farseer Trilogy don't muck like the Liveship Traders.
2. People who realy enjoy the LiveShip Traders don't much like the Farseer Trilogy.
3. Fanatic Surporters of one can not stand the other to the point of only making it through half the first book.
So do you fit into one of these groups?
Do you have another opinion?
Have you noticed like trends among fellow Fantasy fans?

I don't fit into any of the three groups you mentioned. I thoroughly enjoyed each book in the two trilogies. Though I have seen reactions similar to what you outline, people only liking one of the two trilogies.

I enjoyed them both. If I had to choose between them, I'd go with the Farseer novels.

I fit very neatly into the "loathed Farseer, loved Liveship" category. I guess loathed is too strong of a word, but I found it pretty boring and had a very, very hard time finishing the last book in the series. I couldn't get enough Liveship. I didn't know if I should be excited about reading Fool's Errand or if I should be scared, since it was about good ol' Fitzy. My SO bought it and read it and I let it sit for a couple of months. Funny thing is, I totally adored it once I read it. Weirdness.
Btw, I've also noticed this trend at another fantasy site I frequent. It is kind of strange, really.

Well, I hated the Farseer, and I bought the first of the Liveships to see if it's any better. But I couldn't get past the first 100-200 pages. I mean it HAD some REALLY pointless paragraphs in there.

I LOVED the farseer trilogy. It was one of the best series I read. Then I went on to the liveship ones, and had a hard time getting into it. I read through it, and by the time, I thought it was pretty good. But it could not measure up to the assasin.

I don't fit in either group as well.
I liked Farseer series alot, and I just finished the second book of Liveship Traders and I like it just as much. I also read Fool's Errand and I thought it was pretty good too. Actually, I enjoyed every book by Robin Hobb that I read.
Also, I think that fanatics are usually pretty hard on any other book that is not the one they are passionate about, so I would say your observation would fit to many fanatical supporters of other books as well.

I add my voice to the chorus of those who liked both. I read Farseer first and by volume 2 of lifeship traders I thought I would like it more. Unfortunatly then end was a bit rushed and all went too somoothly in ship of destiny so overall Farsser was a bit better, but as I said, both were good in my opinion.

I liked both series very much. Farseer was a bit more depressing and I generally like multiple POVs better then first person, but other than that, the two series were equally well done. And Hobb's third series was off to a very promising start in her last book.

I'm not sure if any of you noticed, but Robin Hobb is just another name for Megan Lindholm. She writes undr both these names, and she write quite well indeed.
She writes short books with her original name, more unusual approaches to fantasy. You might like to try them as well.
