Who do you think will finish their series first:
1. Jordan
2. Goodkind
3. Martin

I think Martin will eventually finish his series within six, maby seven books, but it will be a while yet. The other two will probably milk out their series for a bit longer...
I think Jordan's series will probably find it's abrupt and premature end years from now, as the last remnant of frustrated readers go look for him and find him on his desk, working on WOT book 35...
They nail shut his coffin while the doddering old man keeps yammering from the inside: 'RAFO, RAFO, RAFO...'

George R. R. Martin projects his series to be considerably shorter than Robert Jordan's, but Martin is a slow writer. My guess is that even Jordan's series can't go on much more than five more volumes, and I believe Jordan can write five volumes faster than Martin can write three or four.

Terry Goodkind conceived his series to be more open ended than either Martin or Jordan. There is no real reason for him to end it until the day he dies. Even if he decides to start writing something else, he can always churn out another Sword-of-Truth novel.

I agree that Martin will most likely wrapped his series up first, because he says it'll be six books. Jordan just keeps telling people that "It'll be done when it's done."

As to Goodkind, well, like the previous poster stated, it's a more open ended series. He could just stop, and write something else without worrying about the Sword of Truth series having a 'last' book.

Though, I think it will be years before we see any of these series end at all.

Yeah I feel the same way. I wish Martin could right quicker ya know. But when I'm up to date I think that I will read some Robin Hobb.

Jordan will finish first. If he goes beyond 13 books I will kiss Bardos. So as book 10 is virtually done that leaves him three books to write while Martin though aiming for six has said that it may take him seven books to finish it. So as he's still not sure when book four will be finished he still has three and a half books to write. As for Goodkind, well he could finish it anytime he likes so he's the wildcard:D .

Jordan will finish first. I expect 4 more volumes in WoT.
Martin IMHO will make his saga in at least 8 books. More, he writes slowly.
Terry will write SoT forever. He said it in an interview.
