Hi all

I read a book several years ago but cannot remember the title or author.

The main character, as I remember is a man that has tattoos all over him from which his power comes. THere is also a bumbling quiet man that turns out to be a powerful magician and is the hated enemy of the main character.

If anyone can help I would be mostgrateful as it is driving me NUTS

Sounds like The Deathgate Cycle series by Weis and Hickman, of which the first book is Dragon Wing.
