Now that the long dark windy rainy cold days are with us again (i.e. summer in the uk ) I was tidying up my books and I felt inspired to create a small quiz which I hope you will all have a shot at. It is based on some of the books in my collection, and I have listed some of the better known characters within .
Your task should you choose to accept it is to identify the the author and the book/series they appear in.It’s just for fun so it’s not too hard!

A couple are not human.

1…Hari Seldon
2…Jernau Morat Gurgeh
3…John Carter
4…Jane
5…Valentine Michael Smith
6…Dave Bowman
7…Angus Thermopyle
8…Roland
9…Louis Wu
10..shrike

Hmm..Interesting..

2- Player of Games, Ian. M Banks.
5- Stranger in a Strange Land - Robert Heinlen.
10 - Dan Simmon, Hyperion/Endymion books.

Number 8, the only Roland I remember is from Magician by Feist. Though, is this limited to just scifi?

Also, try not to use your trusty search engines.. Let's see if we can get all 10.. =)

Ok..Ok ..Ok so it was too easy!Or maybe you're all too clever!
All the answers you gave were correct (but I did mean Roland from the Gunslinger, Keyoke, I've got the Gunslinger filed under S.F. that's my excuse!
Perhaps someone else might like to put up some of their favourite characters?
