trying to remember a film name please

dont know if anyone can recall a film i watched years ago but i cant remember the name....

so i will try to describe what i remember


fella lands on a planet in which an alien is resident near a pool.
the alien eats green gooey balls of food.
they become kind of friends

then the alien dies and the fella buries him

i know it's not alot to go on but i was only about 9 when i saw it.

any help would be great

Pleased I got it. Saw it at the cinema in '85. Funny what sticks in the head: think it was the gooey slime balls!

Hope the films worth a re-watch.
