Just in case you didn't know, this is where you tell us what you've been reading in Fantasy/Horror this month. Good or bad, we want to know what and why.

This month's Fantasy book for discussion in August 2010 is Wolfbreed by S.A Swann.

Feel free to join in the discussion HERE (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27808)!

I literally just finished George Martin's A Game of Thrones for the first time. A truly great read, with a few plot points that just completely threw me off course (in a good way).

Currently about 400 pages into Perdido Street Station by China Mieville. Really good stuff so far. I have no idea how it's gonna all tie together in the end.

Also reading Alexander at the World's End by Tom Holt. It's very reminiscent of KJ Parker. Very as in Holt probably is KJ Parker. It is good stuff, well written with a wonderful dry sense of humour.

Read the first Sharing Knife by Lois Bujold and found it too slow for me to read another 3 books. So I've started up Brandon Sanderson's Elantris. Hope it's more engaging ;)

Still plodding through The Death of Chaos. There's only one problem when a book is written in 1st person - if the perspective changes, then so does the writing style and it can feel a little strange.

I went from one chapter which was "he" and "his" to the next, which was "I" and "mine" etc. How odd :D

I just finished The Left Hand of God and was pretty disappointed. Certain sections of the book are well written and interesting, but the other half or so just drags the book down particulary whenever the author goes to the third person and then just info dumps. This combined with a main character that doesn't seem to have any depth means I won't be picking up the sequel unless people start raving about it.

Also recently finished the Hunger Games which while being predictable and a YA novel was enjoyable.

Reading The Passage by Justin Cronin. About halfway through now. I've been taking my time for the most part, but it does keep getting better.

Red Seas Under Red Skies after rushing through the descriptive parts of The Lies of Locke Lamora to get to the good bits. I want to be a Gentleman Bastard when I grow up :D

Just finished The Black Lung Captain by Chris Wooding. It's a great book, and I thought just as good as the first. Its not often I have as much fun reading a book as I've had with the Ketty Jay books.

Next, I'll continue with Shadow's Son by Jon Sprunk. I started it already last week and its been pretty good so far, but nothing special. I heard it really picks up though, so looking forward to it.

I wouldn't say it picks up, it mostly stays the same. "Pretty good, but nothing special" seems to sum it up pretty nicely. I have high hopes for the sequel though.
