Hi my name's Chavdar and I am from Sofia, Bulgaria!
The first author was Jh.R.R Tolkien (he's not my favourite)-the Lord of the Rings! Then I read "the Wheel of Time" in september last year for month and half the eight books, after that I read Raymond Feist-Riftwar Saga!
Hmmm...other authors...
Weiss and Hickman-Dragonlance Chronicles, Goodkind(stupid), Brooks, Robin Hobb-Fareseer Trilogy, David Gemmel-the Stones of Power, David Eddings-Maloreon Saga!
That's it!
My favourite is Robert Jordan even he's a slow author! That's my name because I haven't read George Martin (as I said I am from Bulgaria-we're poor country) I hope that he'll be an excellent author like Jordan and Feist-I think that they're the best!!!
We don't release much from Dragonlance because we're poor country and we don't release Robert Salvatore-because his rights are very expensive-$5000, but some people told me that he's good!
I am waiting for tSoIaF by George Martin and "Serpentwar Saga" by Feist!
From si-fi I like Isaak Asimov and Frank Herbert-"Dune"!!

Hello. I'm 24, just graduated from UCLA's School of Public Health. Now, I have to look for work... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/frown.gif

Anyways, I only started reading fantasy books about 3 years ago. I started with Anne Mccaffrey's (sp?) Pern books, then read Jordan's WOT books 1-8, Goodkind's SOT books 1-5, Martin's first 2 in Song of Fire and Ice, Vance's Lyonesse Trilogy, Eddings's Belgariad, and I am now reading the first book in Friedman's Coldfire Trilogy. I read the first 200 pages of this so far, and it is very different than the previous books I mentioned. Really dark when compared with those.

I've actually been reading this board for a while now, and even posted a couple. I just never saw this intro topic. Until next time guys.

Ok, I'm Sam (rather obviously!)but I'm also Samantha (much hated) or Sammie (to anyone who knows me well). I'm 19. I'm a Med student in London, England, about to start my second year.

When I'm not in London I live in Surrey (very south and slightly west england), so I HAD to post here just to point out that i think that makes Rusty and I the nearest to one another of this farflung crowd! (Surrey being pretty small in comparison with great big American states etc, btw)

Eddings started my fantasy passion at 14, tho I had already read LotR at the tender age of 11.

Sammie.

Hi all,

I'm 35, from Melbourne, Oz. I gopher for a highly-automated office, teach kids writing skills and write. I only have one SF story published but a few kids books too.

I started with the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe but my imagination really ignited with TV serials like The Survivors and The Day of the Triffids. Russian and Polish writers continued to feed the science fiction fire and that is what I write mostly (altho my latest kids stories involving dragons seem to be a hit so I would never say never to fantasy elements).

My current favourite authors are Catherine Jinks, Nick Hornby, Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman who all have wonderful personal styles.

Hi, My name is Gretchen I am almost 22 and currently a student at Southern Utah University, but I will be graduating in may!! I am not currently reading a whole lot of fantasy as I have to read stuff like Chaucer and Fitzgerald. I'm an English major, and don't have a whole lot of free time at the moment. I love fantasy when I have the time. I read LoTR when I was in Eighth grade, but didn't really get into fantasy until about a year later when I read the Sword of Shannara because I was bored and my brother wouldn't let me get on his computer. I've been into fantasy ever since. I still really like Terry Brooks since he was what got me into fantasy. One of my other favorites is Weis and Hickman's Death Gate Cycle. I'm looking forward to when I have time to read fun stuff again.

Greetings all. I am Lord Raoul Za , moderator of the Runelords forum ( well actually my name is matt >: ) )

I come here as a result of Brother Cadfael challenging me to come have a look. Frankly, I love the place. You lot talk about what we try to talk about. only problem with the runelords forum is that each string goes awry and the topic changes within about 5 posts of the start.

I am currently in process of writing a story - as I am sure most of you are. Raoul Za is one of the characters, but maybe I will make him a Lord just to annoy him - he really wouldnt like it.

Anywho, I am sure I will speak to many of you again.

Regards

LRZ

Oh, did I say I'm from Bristol, England? Thats down South for you Dennis.

First fantasy was Hobbit ( naturally ), then LOTR, then Everything by eddings, Feist, Jordan etc etc.

Probably best thing i read was the merlin books by Stephen Erikson ( I think ).

Hello Lord Za!
Do you mean the Merlin series by Stephen Lawhead? (Taliesin, Merlin, Arthur, Pendragon, Grail?).

Otherwise I'm confused... http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Bristol - nice one! Near the bridge or not?
