Just in case you didn't know, this is where you tell us what you've been reading in SF this month. Good or bad, we want to know what and why.
This month's Fantasy book for discussion in September 2010 is an old favourite for many - Sheepfarmer's Daughter by Elizabeth Moon.
Feel free to join in the discussion HERE (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28147)!

It is a monster, isn't it?
Looking forward to meeting Peter (again!) at FantasyCon in three weeks time: he's there on the Sunday.
Still reading the Coyote Series by Allen Steele. Finished Book 1 (Coyote) pretty quickly, now onto book 2, Coyote Rising.

Just finished reading Spin by Robert Charles Wilson - what a fantastic book! The blend of science and character development was perfect, and the story was completely engrossing to the point that I'd be looking forward to every chance to have a read. He makes the storyline, broadly about a membrane that envelopes the Earth and the consequences it has, so believable, and the characters so real that the reader really engages with the story. One of the best I've read in years.
This is the first time I've read this author, but now I'm checking out his extensive catalogue. Axis is the second in the series which I've heard is not as good, but I'm going to have to read it before the third and final Vortex is released.

I got the new version of Engineman by Eric Brown last week, due from Solaris soon and replacing the older release by including short stories (some new, I think). Really enjoying it so far, although it has takena couple of chapters for me to really get to grips with it for some reason. Last night the characters just fell into place and reading it became a joy.
I love Eric Brown's work and it's nice to see that Solaris are puching him so much with all their releases from him - there's a brand new novel due later this year and also another new one next year. Such a great SF writer...

I finished Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. It's the final book in The Hunger Games trilogy and it was quite good. It might have been great, but for some reason I was conscious of the author manipulating my emotions so that brought it down just a notch. That was just me though. I would definitely recommend the series.
Next up is the door-stopper, The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson.
Still reading the Coyote Series by Allen Steele. Finished Book 1 (Coyote) pretty quickly, now onto book 2, Coyote Rising.

I've read the first three Coyote books and the first is still my favorite. I really loved the exploration and discovery of a new world.

David Zindell, Neverness. It's ok so far. I'm not really warming to the characters yet (1/3 through), but I'm looking forward to the series after it.

I just started The Dreaming Void by Hamilton.
Seems like Sept is Hamilton's month eh? I had started this awhile back, and got about 150 pages into it but stopped.
Now that the series is done, I am going to try and read it back to back. Really bad about not finishing series.
Also want to finish it as I want to re-read the Night Dawn's trilogy.

I've read the first three (and really enjoyed them all). I'm reading Spindrift now. And The Years of Rice and Salt by Kim Stanley Robinson.
