Are the Halfblood Chronicles any good? (Elvenbane, Elvenblood, and Elvenborn) Just to give you an idea, I like BOTH Jordans' and Goodkind's series (gasp), although I agree with many that Martin is the king. I'm always interested in looking for a good new epic series. How's this one?

I've read ElvenBane and Elvenblood. Elvenbane is the better of the two from memory but I enjoyed both. I usually don't like books with elves but these elves are not the tolkien live in the trees kinda elves. The elves have enslaved the humans and the story is basically about an underground human resistence trying to win freedom for themselves. The Dragons in the book are portrayed well and so is the magic system. I wouldnt call the books epic though. If you're looking for epic go read Erikson
:D . He will change ya mind about silly kill a lot of people Martin.

I agree with Caldazar - these books are good light fantasy but definitely not epic. If you want something new that looks to be the start of a good epic fantasy, IMO, give The Ring of Five Dragons by Eric Van Lustbader a try.

Elvenbane was the first fantasy book I read and it got me hooked on fantasy novels, so I'm probably a little biased but It's one of my favorite books. elvenblood was good also though it seemed a bit short to me. Looking forward to reading elvenborn but I dont believe its out yet. [not in america anyway]

I haven't seen Elvenborn in the US yet, either.
I enjoyed the stories. Decent characters. I found the role of dragons a bit more interesting than said beasts are usually presented.
I've got a (very big) soft spot for Andre Norton, which prompted me to read them--because I generally stay away from Lackey, these days.

Sorry for necroposting, but I don't like starting new threads.
Haven't read anything of this series, but planning to. Before I get into it, I'm wondering if anyone has any updates on the plans for the 4th book, Elvenbred?
I've read around that after Andre Norton died, Mercedes Lackey was supposed to write the book. But this seems like it was some 2-3 years ago, and I haven't read any recent news on that... might be a dead project, so any updates would be appreciated.
