Im looking for a series or a bunch of different series that are suspenseful and gripping. The type of books you just cant put down and want to stay up all night reading. I havent read much in terms of fantasy but a good example of this would be the Night Elf Trilogy by Salvatore. I like the grittiness of the underworld and the constant plot twists. I also read his IceWind Dale trilogy but nothing after that as I hear the quality severely drops off afterwards.

Ive also read about 300 pages into Gardens of the Moon but it hasnt pulled me in at all... I actually put it down thinking ill get into something a little less epic and complex before I give it another go... So i grabbed Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. Im 150 pages in and I just don't find it very intriguing...

Id be into books that are strongly rooted in magic, maybe about a wizard in training or becoming powerful. Also anything assassin related would be interesting too. Books with a lot of intrigue and mystery in a fantasy setting would be a ++++. I just cant take slow paced, soap opera dramas that occur in a fantasy setting.

Any suggestions :D

What I felt made Gardens slow was that the writing was very hard to understand on first glance. I had to read passages a couple times to understand them which made reading the book take a lot longer than reading a book of equal length by most other fantasy authors. I am about 300 pages into DeadHouse Gates, and so far it is much much much better.

I am not saying Gardens was bad. I really enjoyed it, but this book has been easier to understand, and the pace has just been quicker. Major events have happened, and its not yet the last 100 pages of the book.

Also, let me know how you like The Blade Itself. I haven't read it, but I've heard good things about it and am thinking about reading it after DeadHouse Gates.

Will do. I really want to get into Malazan because its one the few series I hear gets better with each book. Not to mention its crazy long which is a + imo. Im gonna check out some suggestions ITT before i give it another shot tho

Oh stop whining you (yes ChrisW i recognize you from elseforum:) ). Books 2 and 3 are brilliant but the series is awesome and builds on those two nicely.
