So, I've been reading some urban fantasy lately and noticed that most books in this setting have a magical world that's hidden from the world most people see.
Are there any books out there that take place (in present day earth) where magicians and non-magicians have to co-exist?
I guess I'm thinking an X-men type society, but with magicians instead of mutants. :P

welcome bookit.
check out the other thread on the first page regarding supernatural / urban / contemporary fantasy. i think you will find there all the answers you need.
As a starting point there's always Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden series or Simon Green - Nightside.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have something very specific in mind though, and I'm not sure if it exists. Let me try to clarify (I'm not doing a good job so far lol)
I'm looking for a book that talks about the societal changes that would occur in modern America if magic existed and some people were able to wield it.

Nightside actually seems like a great start. I'm going to check that out!

These by no means all fit that exact description, but each is a work of some quality that has to do with magic in some form working in the modern era (meaning within the last 50 to 100 years). In some cases, only a very few are aware of the magic, perhaps just the chief characters; in some cases, it is not universal but a fair number of people are in on it; and in other cases, it is near-universal, and those, I suppose, come nearer to your target. Nor are the tales limited to America: some take place in England, some in Latin America, one in Russia.

Since we have a very detailed thread on this sub-genre which is very active, I'm closing this one.
Here's that other thread:
