I was curious who all on here has read The Santaroga Barrier by Herbert? After reading close to all of his books i have found that this one is by far one of the most exciting, easy to read, and satisfying book he has written. After reading it i was surprised at how few people knew it even existed. Definitely in my top 5 books of all time.

I've read it. Not my favorite, but I did like it.

I know I read it but I hardly recall anything about it.

Not memorable I guess.

It is one of my most favourite Herbert novels. My most favourite is 'The Dragon in the Sea' (US 'Under Pressure').
I am glad to see someone else appreciate the excellence of a lesser known novel of a major author.

Thanks brother, i was moved enough by his story that i named my cat jaspers.
It is a bit sad to see many of Herberts more obscure and amazing books get overshadowed by his Dune series. Dune was good but lacked a lot of that personal connection that his other novels had.

I actually prefer it to "Dune", it's an excellent work.

Read it back in HS and am pretty sure I liked it but that was a long time ago. Better then all his Dune sequels at least. Also read another Herbert book about the same time, in this one a virus is released that targets females and all the women in the world start to die. I tend to forget which book is which since I read them around the same time and have the same author.
