Simple Choice - If I had to choose one or the other, it would be deaf.

I already wear "coke bottle bottom" glasses ;) and have, on the odd occasion, been subjected to the terrifying experience of having something happen to then, which meant I had to go "blind" for short periods. I can emphatically say that I would NEVER like to be truly blind. It is a petrifying and humbling experience to be so completely vulnerable and unable to do anything that you would normally take for granted. I don't think anyone who doesn't wear strong glasses full-time can fully appreciate how it feels.

Then again, if you were born to it, perhaps it would be different to just being thrust into the situation.

True. True. But I don't think I would be able to live my life without listening to music... Or having an interesting conversation with someone. It is a hard choice... And you can have someone read to you. Or audiobooks. But I guess that's just me.

I would definitely be deaf. Certainly I would miss listening to music, but I would rather miss that than miss all the beautiful things to see in the world. Not to mention reading books! You can still communicate (through sign language) with others and even watch tv (with subtitles) when you're deaf.

It's an easy question to answer for me. Being blind is a horrible disability that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
