I loved the first series when it came out in 1979. I was on night shift for much of that year, so I had plenty of time to catch it at 3:30 every afternoon. The second story arc "Comet Empire" didn't interest me as much, and I never saw the third one.
As a scientific extrapolation, it was about on a level with the Barsoom books, but the Barsoom books were good story-telling, and so was this.
