I'd go with 3030, but violent by design was strange.

I'd go with Deltron, because I'm a big fan of Dan the Automator.
If your into more abstract lyricists, Stoneburner (Del sometimes fits into this category), you should try listening to Dose One. He did an album with Cloud Dead recently, as well as an album called "Them," as well as an album with Boom Bip. All are very, very good . . . as long as you don't mind the abstract.

Don't mind it at all. Been listening to Aesop Rock and Jedi Mind tricks rerelease mostly these days.
Dose One is alright, but he needs less quirky production.

Aesop is damn good, both musically and lyrically (the song "No Regrets" is brilliant), and I really like Josh Martinez's stuff . . . but still, Dose is my favorite right now. I really like how his stuff is so quirky and off the wall. I think if he was more conventional he'd lose all of the things I like about him. And his live show is just awesome (I saw him with Boom Bip and Cloud Dead a few weeks back). Aesop will be coming here in two weeks, but I doubt I'll go. I've seen him before, and he's lacking in the live show department. But oh well, you can't have it all.
And if you are into instrumentals, Jel's recent album was good . . . and something I always reccomend, if you haven't yet heard it, is DJ Shadow's first album, "entroducing." It's good stuff.

I have parts of DJ Shadow's first one. I typically don't care for instrumentals unless they are REALLY nice. JOsh Martinez is one of the exceptions.
And Aesop Rock... sometimes it's not surprising that a rapper is white, like dose one, but Aesop definitely surprised me. he does lack in the charisma department, but his voice and lyrics are top notch.
