the vampires of the novels Ringworld how they look like physicaly? are they ugly and smell bad?
i know they are not your typical undead vampires and that they are alive and are just another hominid species.

do these vampire reproduce like all hominids or they create other vampires by turning humans into more vampires?

i also read that they not just drink blood but also eat the flesh of their victims, is that truth?

i also heard that they are not sapiens but just barely inteligent, is that truth too?

is there any fan art of these vampires in order to see how they look physicaly?

thank you for listening bye bye.

They're very dangerous creatures as Ringworld species run, but not at all like our gothic vampires... they hunt primarily by smell and essentially drain their victims of blood. One of Niven's less compelling creations.

They do not turn their hapless victims into vampires... because they're not actually real vampires. "Vampire" is simply the slang term given to them by Earthlings, same with the "Puppeteers", think of it as a not very complimentary racial slur.

There's a Ringworld RPG that had some great illustrations of vampires in it. I think it came out after Engineers. I believe GDW produced it. Or may be Chaosium? I havent put my eyes on it in about fifteen years, but Ill try to dig it up this weekend and scan and post some drawings.

My recollection is that they aren't very human looking, but not really Nosferatu like either.

EDIT: Look here: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=Ringworld+RPG&aq=f&aqi=g4&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=CRpwC7pi8TIWjBqDgyATspKGIAgAAAKoEBU_QdtEQ

Might find something there.

The "vampires" in Ringworld were always my favorite characters. Very dark, somehow mysterious. They always seemed to have this hive mentality and always want to stay in the dark. (of course...)

I didn't know there was a Ringworld rpg! I'll have to go search that out!

It's a really, really complicated game. The rules are why you never heard of it. You practically have to be a physicist to figure out how to use the drives.

ah.. well, I'm no physicist... and I don't know any... lol..
would be an interesting oddity to have, though..

Yea, you're right about that. It was put together by some folks who obviously loved Ringworld and Known Space.

i just manage to get the pdf rpg book of this novels saga and yes there are some pictures in black and white of some(not all)of the hominid species in that saga.
and yes they have a picture of a couple of this vampires specie a male and female and both very very human homo sapiens like and both physically attractive enough to attract sexually human beings in order to feed on. and like peter watts vampires they also eat flesh of their victims.

thanks for the advice of the rpg version of this game, i will buy this book as an encyclopedia or bestiality for the species of this scifi saga.:D:D:D

also i read in that book that vampires can become sentient if they eat that strange root of tree that the Protectors eat in order to become sentient too.

Hope you don't think I'm knocking on your english skills. It's pretty obvious to me that english is not your native langauge, so kudos for hanging out on an english forum. But I think I need to point out that the word you were looking for is "beastiary," not "beastiality."

Look them up if you need to. ;)

You should also read Niven's novels. The tree of life is a central part of the larger Known Space story.

yep sorry, i wrote it wrong is exactly as you said it. bestiary.

only this ring world rpg work as a bestiary with some drawings of some of the hominids and others beings of this interesting saga.
this is why the pdf version convince me to buy it, since there is no other illustration encyclopedia of this novels and their species.
