Hey All,

I've been told its a good idea to introduce myself so, standing up, 'hi, my name is Michelle and I like to write stuff'. To be more specific, I like writing fantasy, a little bit of sci fi and horror / mock horror (is it just me or can zombies sometimes be funny instead of scary?)

Anyway, I write under M L Sawyer as unfortunatly Michelle Sawyer writes lesbian fiction in the US and I thought I'd try and differentiate myself in the market.

My first novel is due for release March 2011 (I'm wrapped), so I'm joining the online world in preparation for promotion later, but also to try and learn as much as I can about the writing world. I've part done my website www.mlsawyer.com.au so if anyone felt like giving any feed back that would be great. I'm also going to add a links page eventually and wuold like to link to like minded writers / sites.

Anyway, back to the online research. At least, that's what I call it.

Later
Michelle

Welcome aboard, Michelle.

Good luck on your promotions - but I suspect you'll be getting notice shortly that this isn't the best place for them. It is sort of like going to Santa's Workshop hoping to sell the other elves toys. Guess what. (grin).

I hope this isn't a promo "drive by" and you stick around. Lots of folks offering great advice here - and plenty of opportunity to give a little assistance as well.

Hello Sawyer!

I failed to mention that the "rules" of the forum are different from the rules on the blog. Everything goes over on your blog but links and promos are not taken to kindly over here.

With that said, WELCOME!! Thanks for visiting and please do stick around! Since you are young (teenager, right?) and debuting your first novel, I'm sure you have lots of advice to offer. As well, you might learn a few tricks from some old hands around here.

Good luck with your new book! :)

kmtolan - don't worry. I wasn't planning on coming here just to post 'buy my book, buy my book'. More just to get my name out there and get to know people is all. Will make sure I abide by the forum rules and so on. Catching up with all that's going on here is going to take me a while though especially since I shouldn't be doing this at work...

tsmo - thanks for the welcome :)

Bummer about the name thing. There are two major authors who share my name... (I googled my name and got 9 Million hits, none of them me--yet.) Feel free to join in, discuss, exchange ideas, and if you dare, write and critique. The next friendly little flash fiction contest is about to begin, can you be short?

(tmso, I didn't think you were that old.)

*I can't get your site to open, my bosses have the computer set so I can't add programs, maybe I'll look at it later. Most of what I've had published has been in that part of the world, go figure.

See ya in the funny papers.

Holy crap! You write zombie-lesbian fiction? That's awesome. A whole new take on gender-bender.

(just kidding)
Welcome :)

Welcome. This is truly a great place to talk shop. Who are you publishing your book through? The website looks nice, though I doubt I'd be jumping halfway around the world for any book signings :)

You know what, I have seen a movie called zombie strippers... but can't say that I've written about it. I'm going through some of my short stuff now to give it a touch up and put online in various forms so will have a crack at entering, displaying, being open to comment (scary stuff). Will have a look at the flash fiction - have to check out the rules as there's a few flash fiction things going round, some capped at 500 words, others bigger... will see how we go.

I'd get someone to proofread your website:

...average every day sixteen year old girl...
Darci soon finds out there is no such things as accidents...
Overland they are trusted to guard whatever contraban they happen to have...

I don't want to be discouraging but having an 'official site' littered with typos and grammatical errors hardly inspires confidence.

You did say something about wanting us to be honest, right? ; ;

Those of us who were involved in Flashspec know about Equilibrium, "Erebus" too btw.

Oh, and I think I saw something about Zombie Strippers on the b movie generator... (Long story)
